Jontell is a wedding and branding photographer based in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Jontell’s photography style is bright and vibrant!

Jontell and I worked together on a brand & website audit and Showit template customization! After our website audit, I was able to make some template recommendations based on her specific business needs. Jontell ended up choosing the East Hampton template from Davey and Krista (a beautiful choice)!

In addition to customizing the Showit template with Jontell’s images and copy, we customized it further with a few additions and changes! This is the great thing about template customization; you can really make it totally your own. For Jontell’s site, we:

• Optimized for SEO by setting SEO page titles and descriptions, and writing alt text for all images
• Changed the template “anniversary” page to a “branding” page and added a canvas to explain more about Jontell’s process
• Integrated Jontell’s Honeybook lead capture form into the contact page
• Added a Lightwidget Instagram auto-updater to the footer
• Customized private add-on pages for clients

I asked Jontell to share a little bit about her experience. Check out her thoughts below!

You switched to ShowIt from Squarespace. What has your experience been like making that switch?

I switched from Squarespace to Showit because I wanted more flexibility and freedom when designing my website. I put it off for months because I was so intimidated by the idea of learning a whole new platform. Luckily, making the switch was so much easier than I expected! Showit has a ton of tutorials and an awesome support team to help walk you through the process.

What was the benefit of doing template customization services rather than DIY?

Once I decided to switch, I really wanted to get my new website up as quickly as possible. However, there was no way I could learn a whole new platform while trying to design a new site (in the middle of my wedding season!). Allowing Alex to customize my template took the pressure off and even allowed me to launch sooner than I could have if I were doing it myself. Also, while the Showit support team is amazing, it’s really nice to have help from someone who is invested in your website. When I ran into issues, Alex was always there to help me figure them out and all the way up until launch, she made sure every little thing was perfect!

What are you most excited for now that your new site has launched?

Honestly, I’m just so excited to finally share the website with everyone! My new site is more user-friendly and it really reflects my current brand. One of my favorite parts of the new site is the blog, so I can’t wait for people to get to explore it.
